Four lepers found a camp full of food during a famine and ate until they were satisfied. Then conscience caught up with them: this is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace.
They had not stolen anything. They had not told anyone. And they recognised that silence, in a famine, is its own kind of wrong.
You know someone in a famine. Someone whose marriage is quietly ending. Someone whose immigration paperwork has stalled for two years. Someone whose child has stopped speaking to them. Someone who is functioning beautifully in public and unravelling at home.
Ten days from now there is a room in Stratford where they could bring all of that and put it down.
So this is the ask, and it is a simple one. Do not come to NEBAM alone. Pick one person. Not a list of twenty — one. Send them the details today, before you forget, and offer to travel with them.
Most people do not come to meetings like this because nobody personally asked them. Be the person who asked.
